ABEN Inaugurates Abia Chapter, As Abia Government Pledge Support And Collaboration

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi said the present administration will continue to render support and encouragement to professional bodies in the and their members in the education sector to boost their capacity as it strives to place Abia ahead others.

Elder Ubochi who spoke through the Director of Quality Assurance in the ministry Lady Rosemary Kalu at the chapter inauguration and installation of executive members of the Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN) Abia State led by Dr. Nneka Emeasoba described the event as pace-setting while urging leaders and members of ABEN deploy their professionalism and influence for the good of the state.

Speaking shortly after the oath taking and inauguration of the executive and members, the national president of ABEN Prof. Lawrence Ademiluyi represented by the vice president south-east/south-south Dr. Felicia Nwokike described the birth of the association in the state as a catalyst in promoting business education pointing out that members will benefit from collaborations, mentorships, assessments and other opportunities the body offers.

In a keynote speech on the theme “Business Education; Our Business” Prof. Effiong Asuquo of the University of Uyo, who reeled out qualification criteria for membership, leadership set up and structure, constitution and bye-laws, described the association as a veritable platform for sustenance of scholarship among its members through its conferences and other programmes.

Prof. Asuquo while charging the new leadership and members not to relent efforts in nurturing the chapter to grow faster than other chapters, commended the good works of Governor Alex Otti in the state, stating that he has shown capacity in governance.

In her address earlier, the pioneer Chairperson, Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN) Abia State Chapter Dr. Nneka Emeasoba said business educators of human capacity and drivers of entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development while she pledged on behalf of her team to serve in line with the core values of the association.

The event featured goodwill messages from stakeholders including the General Manager Abia State Debt Management Office Dr. K.O Nwaigburu, presentation of certificates to registered members among other highlights.
